Trumpeter 04543 1/350 PLAN Navy Type 054A FFG-529 Zhoushan

27.00 $

In late 2005, it was revealed that an improved version of the Type 054 frigate, the Type 054A (NATO codename Jiangkai II) was under construction at Huangpu Shipyard. The 054A is based on the same hull as the 054, but has updated sensors and more capable weapons regarded as one of the china's most modern frigate.

Most importantly, the Type 054A's medium-range HQ-16 VLS SAM system now provides area air defence from all engagement angles up to a range of 50km, a considerable upgrade from the limited engagement angle, short range SAM system of the Type 054. The 4 AK-630 30mm AA guns of the Type 054 have also been replaced by 2 autonomous Type 730 CIWS which have improved reaction time for close-in anti-aircraft and anti-missile engagements.

Like the Type 054, the Type 054A also incorporates many stealth features: sloped hull design; radar absorbent materials; and reduction of surface equipment and features.

Aoshima A000251 1/700 IJN Battleship Yamashiro 1944 Retake

21.00 $

Detailed kit builds into a highly detailed waterline model.

Yamashiro was the second of two Fusō-class dreadnought battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in 1915 and commissioned in 1917, she initially patrolled off the coast of China, playing no part in World War I. In 1923, she assisted survivors of the Great Kantō earthquake.

Yamashiro was modernized between 1930 and 1935, with improvements to her armor and machinery and a rebuilt superstructure in the pagoda mast style. Nevertheless, with only 14-inch guns, she was outclassed by other Japanese battleships at the beginning of World War II, and played auxiliary roles for most of the war.

Aoshima A005178 1/700 IJN Seaplane Tender Akitsushima

23.00 $

The Akitsushima was a seaplane tender of the Imperial Japanese Navy, serving during World War II from 1942 until she was sunk in September 1944.

In 1938, the IJN wanted to use their large-sized flying boats more effective, because the Kawanishi H6K was the only aircraft able to hit Pearl Harbor directly from the Marshall Islands. However, the Marshall Islands did not have flying boat facilities at that time. The IJN therefore planned two kinds of seaplane tenders which were included in the Maru 4 program. The IJN planned a 3,500-ton class tender. The ships should be able to maintain, repair and supply seaplanes. The IJN intended to accommodate the flying boat by bow-up trim and slope at first; however, this plan was cancelled and the Akitsushima class was equipped with a 35-ton crane. She was commissioned on 29 April 1942, and sunk in September 1944 at Coron Bay.

This waterline kit is molded in gray, black and brown plastic; decals are included.

This is an injection-plastic ship model kit.

Trumpeter 06708 1/700 USS Enterprise CV-6

27.00 $

“Big E” USS ENTERPRISE was the second of the Yorktown Class aircraft carriers. Construction commenced in 1934 and official launch was in 1936, entering service in 1938.

ENTERPRISE narrowly escaped the unannounced Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 due to stormy weather. Without any further delay, ENTERPRISE was immediately tasked with combat duty against the Japanese.

“Big E” provided cover for the Doolittle Raid on mainland Japan and took part in the Battle of Midway, Battle of Philippines, Leyte Gulf and provided air support during the Guadalcanal campaign, Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, Palau, Iwo Jima and Ryukyu. For a long period of time, “Big E” took on Japan until more aircraft carriers entered service.

After WWII, “Big E” took part in “Operation Magic Carpet” and brought U.S. troops back to USA. Decommissioned in 1947, ENTERPRISE was dismantled in 1958 yet the legend of “Enterprise versus Japan” lives on.
