Trumpeter 03719 1/200 Titanic w/ LED Lighting Set

    283.00 $

The RMS Titanic was built in Belfast, Northern Ireland, by the shipyard Messrs. Harland & Wolff. Construction of the Titanic began March 31st, 1909, with the laying of her keel, and would continue up until her maiden voyage. At the time of her maiden voyage, the Titanic was the world's largest ocean liner. She was built with many safety features and was claimed to be unsinkable. On the afternoon of April 10th, 1912, the Titanic departed Southampton, England, on her maiden voyage and headed to Cherbourg, France, followed by Queenstown, Ireland, before beginning her crossing of the North Atlantic Ocean towards her intended destination of New York, in the United States. On the clear moonless night of April 14th, at 11:40 p.m., the Titanic struck an iceberg and began sinking by the head. By 2:00 a.m. most of the Titanic's lifeboats were gone but many people were left on board the doomed ship. As the Titanic's final moments approached, her bow plunged below the icy waters of the Atlantic, her stern rose out of tue water, and the unsinkable ship broke in two. In the early morning hours of April 15th, 1912, nearly 2 hours and 40 minutes after the allision with the iceberg, the Titanic disappeared below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean . Her wreck remained lost until 1 September 1985 when her twisted and broken hull was discovered 12,480 feet down. The Titanic carried 2208 passengers and crew that fateful night and claimed the lives of 1496 people when she sank. The Titanic became one of the worst martime disasters in history and has become one of the most famous shipwrecks.

Academy 14213 1/800 USS Nimitz Aircraft Carrier

    19.00 $

USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is a US nuclear powered aircraft carrier. The keel for this unit was laid in 1968, the launch took place in May 1972, and the commissioning to the US Navy took place in 1975. The total length of the ship is 332.8 meters, the overall width is 76.8 meters, and the full displacement is about 92,000 tons. The maximum speed does not exceed 32-33 knots. The on-board armament currently includes: two Sea Sparrow missile launchers, two RIM-116 launchers and two 20 mm Vulcan Phalanx CIWS sets. The aircraft carrier can take on board up to 90 aircraft of such types as, for example: F / A-18 Super Hornet, EA-18 Growler, E-2A Hawkeye or Sikorsky MH / SH-60.

USS Nimitz (CVN-68) is the lead ship of the aircraft carrier class of the same name. The ships of this type - until the introduction of the Gerald Ford class units - were the largest ships in history. They were also the first class of nuclear-powered carriers in the history of the US Navy. From the outset, they were planned as the backbone of the US Navy strike force, and were expected to work closely with other shielding ships, such as destroyers, frigates, and submarines. They are almost a symbol of the dominance of the US Navy in the seas and world assessments. The leading vessel of this class is the USS Nimitz (CVN-68), which was built at the Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. The ship did not manage to take part in the Vietnam War (1964 / 1965-1975), and the first major operation in which she took part was the unsuccessful operation Orli Szpon in 1980. A year later (1981), two F-14 Tomcats took off from the aircraft carrier, which shot down two Libyan Su-22s during a skirmish over the Gulf of Great Sirte. In 1985, the aircraft carrier operated in the Lebanon region. USS Nimitz also took an active part in the First Gulf War (1990-1991) and the Second Gulf War in 2003. USS Nimitz remains in active service, but it is expected to be withdrawn from the line around 2022.

Trumpeter 05777 1/700 Italian Navy Battleship RN Roma (1943)

    27.00 $

The largest and most powerful warships ever built in Italy, the battleships of the Littorio class, were the first "35,000 tonners" to come under the provisions of the Washington Treaty. Although the Washington Navel Conference of 1922 gave Italy the authority to build up to 182,800 tons of new capital ships (including 70,000 tons prior to 1932), the Italians waited more than a decade before beginning construction.

The RN Roma was commissioned on 14 June 1942. On 21 August she arrived in Taranto, where she joined the 9th Navel Division. She was the last Italian capital ship to enter service, and had a very brief and tragic career. The RN Roma went to sea 9 September 1943. Enroute to Malta, when in the Golf of Sardinia, she was attacked by German aircraft the "Fritz X". Truly the RN Roma was sunk by a powerful new type of guided missile, specifically designed for use against heavily armored targets. Of a total of 1,849 officers and men on board, only 596 survived. The RN Roma's career lasted 15 months, during which she participated in no combat missions. She made 20 sorties, steamed 2,492 miles during 133 hours underway and consumed 3,320 metric tons of fuel. She was out of service for 63 days during her career.
