This van is instantly recognisable and probably the most iconic van to appear on British Television thanks to the renowned British TV sitcom ‘Only Fools and Horses’ and now you can take it around the Scalextric track. This 1967 Reliant Regal Supervan III served the Peckham branch of Trotters Independent Trading Co from the 1980’s. The main purpose was for the transportation of goods from dealers to the markets however despite only having two seats was often used as a family mode of transport for the Trotter family. Over its working life the van aided in the transportation of hundreds of pounds of ‘hooky clobber’ and three generations of Trotters from Grandad through to baby Joan Trotter. The original named driver was Derek Trotter however as the family and family business grew other vehicles were introduced into the fleet and his younger brother Rodney Trotter often utilised this mode of transport. This van had a limited cost to the business as it cost nothing in repairs, servicing, and general valeting. It also appears to spent most of its life exempt from Road Tax due to a delay in the tax disk arriving in the post.

Born in 1936 in fife, Scotland, Jim Clark is today remembered as being one of, if not the, greatest natural talents to ever sit behind the wheel of a Formula One car. Born into a farming family Jimmy began his racing career in local road rally events before graduating to circuit racing in a borrowed DKW. By 1958 he has gained the attention of the local Border Reivers team and was racing a Jaguar D-Type across national events. Winning 18 of the races he entered.

In 1958 he raced a Lotus Elite at Brands Hatch, finishing second to Colin Chapman, boss of Lotus, and launching his career with the famous Norfolk brand. By 1960 he was racing for Lotus in Formula One, making his debut at the Dutch GP and winning his first Grand Prix at the 1962 Belgian race at the daunting Spa Francochamps. His first World Championship came in 1963 and was followed by another in 1965, both for Lotus.

His exploits however were not just confined to F1, he won the Indy 500, raced at LeMans and at the wheel of the fantastic Lotus Cortina he won numerous touring car races and a British Saloon Car Championship. Regarded by many to be the most naturally talented driver to ever grace Formula One Jimmy was tragically killed during a Formula 2 race in Germany in 1968. Today he is remembered as a true great of the sport, a natural talent like no other, and a man incomparable on the track.

Over the line with Lancia Martini Racing

The Lancia Beta Montecarlo Turbo is an old school racing car. After a break of eight years away from motor racing, in 1980 Lancia adapted this car for competition racing. Holden XU-1 Torana 1972 Bathurst Winner

Peter Brocks first Bathurst crown came in the 1972 Hardie-Ferodo 500. This was the last race to be held over the original distance of 500 miles and the last year drivers were able to race without the assistance of a co driver.

Race qualifying saw Allan Moffat in the number 1 Ford XY Falcon GT HO on pole position, with an incredible 2m35.8s, 3.1 seconds faster than 1971. Beside him was John Goss, who despite blowing a motor in practice, still managed to clock a best of 2m37.2s. Behind them were John French and Fred Gibson, driving the number two works car, closely followed by Peter Brock driving his Holden LJ XU-1 Torana.

Race day was pouring with rain and the start was an incredible sight, with a huge cloud of spray blanketing the field, which looked more like a power boat fleet than a pack of cars. Despite all of the problems encountered by his rivals, Peter Brock cruised to an astounding victory in his Holden Dealer Team LJ XU-1 Torana, by the huge margin of five laps. Brocks car ran without trouble all day.

This would ultimately prove to be the beginning of an unrivaled legacy on The Mountain for Peter Brock.
