Doubly successful

In the 2022 DTM season, Team Schubert Motorsport had two reasons to celebrate. They had already won the team championship prior to the final race in Hockenheim, which provided more excitement than expected. A major pile-up left just 12 cars capable of lining up at the restart. In the reduced field, South African driver Sheldon van der Linde finished in third position, and consequently claimed the DTM Champion trophy for 2022.

The fourth car from our limited edition Scalextric 60th Anniversary Collection is the Audi quattro S1 E2, representing the 1980s!

First issued in 1984 the original Scalextric Audi Quattro proved to be as big a hit on the Scalextric tracks of the nation as the original had been screaming through Scandinavian forests. The 1980s saw Scalextric move into ever more inventive areas, with items such as ‘Blowout!’ and Racing Rigs bringing new excitement to the brand. Group B rally cars featured heavily as Ayrton Senna made his Scalextric debut towards the end of the decade in a JPS Lotus, alongside Mansell in a Williams.

The Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 itself was introduced at the end of the 1985 as an update to the Audi Sport quattro; with the car sporting an inline turbo charged 5-cylinder engine. In addition to the improved power output, an aggressive aerodynamic kit was added that featured very distinctive wings and spoilers to the front and rear of the car to increase downforce. The S1 E2 did find some success with Walter Röhrl and Christian Geistdörfer winning the 1985 San Remo Rally, but with the Group B era coming to an end in 1986 after a series of tragic incidents, the quattro was consigned first to the Rallycross tracks, and then the history books.

Two motorsport legends combine in this fantastic classic release. The Jaguar E-Type needs no introduction, it is a legend of both beauty and speed, with its race results at the Goodwood Revival also speaking for themselves. The driver and owner of this car is the famous Red Bull technical director and F1 design supremo Adrian Newey. Throughout his career he has shown himself to be a step ahead of his competition time and time again, delivering various race and championship winning cars.In this Jaguar he has also proved himself to be no slouch behind the wheel, as skilled on track as on the drawing board!
