The Imagination Project by Authentic Collectables is an idea born out of creativity and a desire to produce a range of cool cars with no limits.

‘What if’ is the main question that drives this project. What if a designer had absolutely free range to create a racing livery without any restrictions? What if a driver could decide how their car would look? What kind of art cars could artists create on race or road cars? What if we combined retro and modern racing styles?

The questions, ideas and outcomes created by this project are limited only by our collective imaginations. In fact, the only limits that are placed on the models created in this range is the limited edition number.

Driven by our own creative division and also working with other designers, artists, brands, drivers and more - the Imagination Project is a collection of interesting, wild and fun limited edition models for motorsport, car and art & design collectors.

The latest edition in this range is this awesome Ford Mustang GT Gen3 Supercar featuring a tribute livery to an iconic Mustang which won the 1966 Australian Touring Car Championship.

Based on an iconic Mustang, raced in a golden era of Australian motorsport, the simple #1 white red and blue livery has been replicated in-house by the Authentic Collectables research and development team to fit the new Gen3 S650 body Mustang. It fits perfectly, which isn't surprising for a car as iconic as the Mustang, as it celebrates its 60th birthday in 2024.

The concept of applying historic liveries to new Supercar body shapes isn't new in the model car industry but it's something we've always enjoyed seeing and our recent additions to this range have seem to have been greeted with great interest from collectors. Tribute liveries like this are perfect to be included in our Imagination Project range and this 'modern' interpretation of this livery just looks amazing.

While we have replicated this livery and modified it to create this tribute model, it's important to acknowledge the designer/s who created the original race livery design. Without their incredible work to create such an iconic livery in the first place, a tribute model like this could never be considered.

This 1:18 scale model is officially licensed by Ford and has been produced in die-cast with opening parts. It measures roughly 270mm long, 115mm wide, 75mm high in an exclusive limited edition and will come with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

In 2022, Jack Perkins donned an awesome retro livery on his Holden VF Commodore when he raced at the Dunlop Super2 Series Sandown round and in 2023 he backed it up again, with a livery some may argue was even better!

Now racing a ZB Commodore, Jack was once again acknowledging the successful career of his father, Larry Perkins, in an impressive way, this time celebrating the 30th anniversary of the 1993 Bathurst 1000 win enjoyed by Larry and the late Gregg Hansford.

Featuring the iconic white, black, red and green Castrol livery with the sharp stripes flowing down the doors, the 2023 version was backed by Shaw and Partners again as they had done the previous year.

In an odd twist, Larry’s famous number 11 was featured on the doors and roof in acknowledgement of the livery it was paying tribute to, however the car was entered as #70 with the corresponding numbers on the windows. A bit of a confusing trap for young players!

Like the 2022 version, the significance of this livery and its execution will make for a very special model for collectors and fans of the rich racing history of the Perkins family.

This 1:18 scale model has been produced as a sealed body with clear windows and detailed interior in a limited edition of 222 with an individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
