Mr Hobby (Gunze) MS232 Mr Mark Setter Decal 40ml

4.00 $

Mr. Mark Setter is a decal adhesive. It is used to firmly attach decals to painted surfaces. It is particularly effective when used on old decals that have lost their adhesion or decals that do not have strong adhesive properties. It
also contains ingredients that soften decals.

Apply a small amount to the location where you want to attach the decal, and then place the decal on top of it. The adhesive bonds the decal to the painted surface, making it difficult to peel off even after drying. The decal is softened rapidly by the softening solvent, so if too much is applied, the decal itself may melt or the painted surface may be eroded. Applying it on top of an attached decal has some effect, but basically you should apply it under the decal.

This product is water-soluble. Adding water appropriately will dilute the effect of the solvent and prevent rapid softening. Depending on the painted surface and type of decal to be used, it is recommended to dilute with water before use. After applying the decal, lightly press the decal with a lightly dampened Mr. Cotton Swab, Mr. Clean Stick 2, or a dust-free cloth to ensure that the decal adheres firmly to the surface of the part. At that time, wipe off excess Mr. Mark Setter with water to prevent it from softening too much. Using a damp cotton swab or similar will neutralize the Mark Setter and prevent it from becoming too soft with the solvent.

If the decal is hard and does not soften easily, apply a small amount of MS231 Mr. Mark Softer onto the decal and work it in. Be careful not to apply too much.

If air bubbles get trapped between the decal and the part (silvering), after the decal has dried, carefully poke holes in the decal with a needle or craft knife. Then, by applying Mr. Mark Softer again, the decal will soften again, the air bubbles will disappear, and the decal will adhere firmly to the surface of the part.

One way to prevent silvering is to use a glossy surface on the surface onto which the decal will be applied.

The main ingredients used in the previous product have been changed to environmentally friendly ones and the product has been redesigned.

The changes made to the product are as follows:

  • The adhesive has been changed from an emulsion resin adhesive to an acrylic resin adhesive. The adhesive performance is improved compared to the previous version. When applying a decal, even if you apply a gloss clear coat and then mask it, the decal is less likely to be taken away by the masking tape.
  • Softening effect is now stronger than before.
  • It has more dissolving power for water-based hobby colors than previous products. This is particularly noticeable when the drying time is short, so please dry thoroughly and avoid applying a large amount. If you use it, it is best to dilute the Mark Setter with water to reduce its dissolving power before use. Although this will depend on factors such as the drying time of the coating, the amount used, and how it is wiped off, a dilution of approximately 30% is a good guideline.
