SDS Models PL016 HO VR BPL Coach VR 14BPL Smooth Side

52.00 $

The original Austrains PL series of carriages have been upgraded. The Austrains NEO series are based around the same 59'9" design as the original models.

We've retooled the sides to reflect another style of doorway synonymous to this type of carriage, the sliding door. At the same time we took the opportunity to remove the faux raised screw heads of the original model along the raised beading and letter board area of the car body.

We have also improved the dimensionally accuracy of the roof mounted torpedo ventilators, made some small changes to the appearance of the bogies and improved the interior seat representation.

Lastly, we have introduced an additional width underframe, with centered handbrake wheel position. This provides us with a opportunity to model specific car numbers that match the prototype and offer all new car numbers. Three distinct eras of operation are offered, all with specific annotations on the car sides.

The APL and BCPL cars use the original 8'0" wide style underframe and the BPL cars ride on a new 7'6" style of underframe with centered handbrake wheel.

Hornby R4930B OO LNER Mk3 Trailer Standard Disabled (TSD) Coach F42159

40.00 $

In-order to allow running at 125 mph on Britain's Victorian era railways, new rolling stock was needed by British Railways. Significant improvements over the Mk2 included new secondary air suspension between the bogies and the coach body as well as aerodynamic skirting on the underframe. Mk3 coaches are 75ft (23m) long enabling far greater capacity than older coaches. Mk3 coaches also incorporate disk breaks and wheel slip protection enabling faster deceleration.

The first Mk3 coaches to be delivered were used as part of the HST prototype along with the two Class 41 diesel power cars in 1972. Mk3 coaches entered service in 1975 along with the Class 43 forming the iconic InterCity 125 trainset. In the Mid-2000s the Mk3 stock belonging to the InterCity East Coast franchise, operated by GNER, received refurbishment to bring them up to the same level as the Mk4 coaches that had been refurbished as part of 'Project Mallard'. LNER inherited its fleet of Mk3 coaches in 2018 after taking over the InterCity East Coast franchise from Virgin Trains East Coast.

The introduction of Class 800 and 801 sets has seen LNER replace all its InterCity 125 sets and as a result Mk3 coaches ceased operating with LNER after a farewell tour at the end of December 2019. Nine of the fourteen HST sets transferred to East Midlands Railway.

Tomix 2712 N Remu 500 Wagon

6.00 $

Approximately 1,400 of these two-axle refrigerated freight cars were manufactured, the first being in 1963.

There was no mechanical device for cooling, and the freight was kept refrigerated with ice or dry ice, but this was a representative example of a two-axle refrigerated freight car that had improved cooling performance compared to previous refrigerated freight cars, making it possible to transport the freight over long distances.

Depending on the period of operation, the freight car was pulled by everything from steam locomotives to electric locomotives of the JNR standard.

The model was discontinued in 1987.

Steam Era Models R29W HO Welded IZ/RY Open Wagon with wheel handbrake Kit

10.00 $

Welded IZ/RY Open Wagon Wheel Handbrake

This series of open wagons were originally constructed as GZ wagons. GZ990-995 and 1000-1030 were constructed at Newport Workshops in 1931/34 and were the Victorian Railways first grain proof wagons suitable for the carriage of bulk wheat. Wagons 911-989, 996-999 and 1101-2000 followed, constructed at Newport, Ballarat Nth and Bendigo Nth workshops between 1935 and 1939. The GY wagons, first constructed in 1939, were a development of the GZ with greater cubic capacity, but a lower weight capacity of 22 Tons compared to 27 Tons for the GZ. Further GY wagons were constructed during WWII with the pace of construction accelerating in the years immediately following. By the mid 1950s there were sufficient GY wagons available to transport Victoria's rain harvests and the GZ wagons were recoded 1Z, retaining their numbers. Al about this time the buffers were removed and shunter's steps were added to the headstocks along with additional handrails on each end.

The kit is representative of a wagon in this condition During 1963/64 there was a spate of derailments that were traced to 'W' irons of 27 Ton capacity IZ and HZ wagons cracking where they were riveted to the underframe. The solution adopted was to replace the 'W irons and reclassify the wagons RY, retaining the same numbers, with a reduced capacity rating of 16/22 Tons. The wagons represented by this kit featured a wheel handbrake and were numbered from 911-1030 and 1101-1700.

Model illustrated has been fitted with couplers (not included).

17.00 $

The TTA tanker was a mainstay of cargo traffic in the latter half of the 20th century. The TTA tanker was not a specific design, but a specification which resulted in largely similar wagons from each company that made them.
