Peco GR621B GLT OO-9 FR Short Bowsider Bogie Coach Early Preservation Green 20

43.00 $

FR Short 'Bowsider' Bogie Coach - Early Preservation - Green 20

The four coaches in this group of vehicles were known as the 'Bowsiders' because of the shape of their sides, and were supplied by two builders in 1876 and 1879. Numbers 17 and 18 are the shorter coaches, delivered in 1876, and the two long coaches, numbers 19 and 20, arrived three years later in 1879. All four are in service on the Ffestiniog Railway today.

Our new models capture the subtle style of these coaches, with the 'bow' towards the bottom of the sides. The models feature very fine print detail too, including the Ffestiniog Railway company emblem. The livery is green with a cream trim around the upper half of the coach, and contrasting maroon end panels.

No. 17 wears this livery today. Fitted with metal-tyred wheels the coaches are lovely smooth runners.

Peco NR601 N Wagon Load Kit Coal

    4.00 $

PECO FREIGHT AND LINESIDE N - WAGON LOAD KIT - COAL

All kits comprise a bag of load material, such as coal or sand, plus sections of board that are cut to size to fit the desired wagon. The modeller, using a PVA adhesive, secures the materials on the cut boards and places the load inside the wagon for instant effect. The additional benefit, apart from the realism, is that some valuable weight is added to what might otherwise be a very light vehicle. Especially useful in an N scale wagon!

The N scale kits contain enough material for up to 6 wagons. Full instructions are provided in the packs.

Hornby R4915E OO GWR Mk3 Sliding Door Trailer Standard TS 48127

    32.00 $

In-order to allow running at 125 mph on Britain's railways, new rolling stock was needed by British Railways in order to replace the aging Mk2s. Significant improvements over the Mk2 included new secondary air suspension between the bogies and the coach body as well as aerodynamic skirting on the underframe. Mk3 Coaches are 75ft (23m) long enabling far greater capacity than older coaches. Mk3 Coaches also incorporate disk brakes and wheel slip protection enabling faster deceleration.

The first Mk3 Coaches to be delivered were used as part of the HST prototype along with the two Class 41 diesel power cars in 1972. Mk3 Coaches entered service in 1975 along with the Class 43 forming the iconic InterCity 125 trainset.

Mk3 Coaches continue to be a mainstay on British railways in the 21st century despite their increasing age. With the introduction of the new Class 800 and 802 IEP units on the Great Western Mainline, GWR cascaded remaining IC125 sets to rural routes, shortening them to 4 passenger coach 'Castle' sets. These Mk3s are also updated to comply with new regulations mandating considerations such as improved toilet facilities, disabled access and automatic doors.
