Tobu Railway's SL Taiju is a steam locomotive train towed by a C11 that began operating between Shimoimaichi and Kinugawa Onsen in 2017. In 2020, the No. 325 locomotive from the Mooka Railway was purchased, and in 2022, the No. 123 locomotive began commercial operation, and the train is now operated with three steam locomotives. Tobu Railway's steam locomotives are operated with the Yo8000 series, which is equipped with an ATS, and are used together with the SL. The passenger cars for the SL Taiju are 14-series seating cars purchased from JR Hokkaido and Shikoku, but in 2021, the Ohate 12 series, which is a modified 12-series passenger car equipped with a viewing room, was introduced and is used together with the 14-series.

The E231-1000 series Kozu cars were introduced in 2004 for the Tokaido Line.

The cars are characterized by their promotion of universal design, with the installation of lamps for opening and closing the boarding and alighting doors, and the addition of through doors as a fire prevention measure from the third train onwards.

The E231 series also introduced the first two-story green car, and in parallel with this, green cars were introduced to existing Koyama cars (for the Utsunomiya Line and Takasaki Line). The Kozu cars are newly manufactured with eight cars, and early-model Saha cars that were reassembled from the Koyama cars are installed in cars 6 and 7, making them an irregular formation, which is a unique feature of the Kozu cars. Work to update the main equipment will begin in 2021, and modifications to accommodate platform doors are also being made.

The vehicle is currently in service on regular trains on the Ueno-Tokyo Line (Tokaido Line between Numazu and Tokyo, Utsunomiya Line between Tokyo and Utsunomiya, Takasaki Line between Omiya and Takasaki, Ryomo Line between Takasaki and Maebashi) and the Shonan-Shinjuku Line (between Zushi/Odawara and Maebashi/Utsunomiya).

The 165 series was introduced in 1963 as an express train for mountain routes in DC electrified sections.

The Tokai Express is a train that connects Tokyo and Shizuoka, and has a long history, originating from the semi-express Tokai that was introduced in 1955.

Since 1989, the 165 series from Shizuoka Depot has been in charge of the operation of the Tokai Express, and in addition to this train, it also served as the 375M and 372M night local trains that ran between Tokyo and Ogaki, also affectionately known to passengers as the Ogaki Night Express.

The trains were livery in the yellow and green Shonan colors, and featured green cars, reminiscent of the old days of the Japanese National Railways. However, with the timetable revision on March 16, 1996, the Tokai Express was upgraded to the Tokai Limited Express and the Ogaki Night Express was upgraded to the Moonlight Nagara Rapid, and the trains used were also changed from the 165 series to the 373 series.

Upon their retirement, for approximately two weeks until the timetable change, all basic formations were fitted with trapezoidal headmarks that mimicked their former appearance, with the Tokyo side being uniformly red, and each formation on the Shizuoka side having a different colour, with the K1 formation having a yellow mark on the Shizuoka side.

The E1 series Shinkansen, nicknamed Max, was introduced in 1994 and is Japan's first all-double-decker Shinkansen train.

In November 2003, the train's paint job was changed significantly from the previous one, and it is now painted in the same white and dark blue as the E2 series, with a pink stripe reminiscent of a crested ibis at the dividing line.

After the paint job was changed, the train continued to be used on the Joetsu Shinkansen for a long time, but was taken out of service in October 2012.

The Kiha 40 series is a general-purpose diesel car of the Japanese National Railways that was introduced in 1977.

The Kiha 40-2000 series was a vehicle for warm climates with a double driver's cab, and was originally painted in a vermilion color known as the capital region color, but from around 1992, the cars for the Hiroshima region were gradually changed to a yellow with cream and gray stripes.
