The Meitetsu Kiha 8200 series is a diesel car developed to run on the JNR Takayama Line, and began operation in 1969.

Like the earlier Kiha 8000 series, the width of the car was made smaller than JNR vehicles in order to operate on the Meitetsu Line, which has a small vehicle clearance, and the side windows were articulated windows similar to the company's 7000 series Panorama Car.

This series had two engines for running, so its overall length was longer than the Kiha 8000 series.

When it first appeared, it was painted in express paint similar to the JNR Kiha 58 series, but in 1976 it was upgraded to a limited express train and its paint was changed to be similar to the JNR Kiha 82 series.

In 1991, it was replaced by the Kiha 8500 series and all cars were scrapped.

The 103 series is a commuter train that first appeared in 1963, and over 3,400 cars were manufactured and are still in service today. The emerald green 103 series was introduced on the Joban Line in 1967, and on the Narita Line in 1973.When the Joban Line was quadrupled in 1971, the trains were converted to  eight-car formations, but to alleviate congestion, they were reverted back to ten-car formations the following year. The 165 series was introduced in 1963 as an express train for mountain routes in DC electrified sections.

The Tokai Express is a train that connects Tokyo and Shizuoka, and has a long history, originating from the semi-express Tokai that was introduced in 1955.

Since 1989, the 165 series from Shizuoka Depot has been in charge of the operation of the Tokai Express, and in addition to this train, it also served as the 375M and 372M night local trains that ran between Tokyo and Ogaki, also affectionately known to passengers as the Ogaki Night Express.

The trains were livery in the yellow and green Shonan colors, and featured green cars, reminiscent of the old days of the Japanese National Railways. However, with the timetable revision on March 16, 1996, the Tokai Express was upgraded to the Tokai Limited Express and the Ogaki Night Express was upgraded to the Moonlight Nagara Rapid, and the trains used were also changed from the 165 series to the 373 series.

Upon their retirement, for approximately two weeks until the timetable change, all basic formations were fitted with trapezoidal headmarks that mimicked their former appearance, with the Tokyo side being uniformly red, and each formation on the Shizuoka side having a different colour, with the K1 formation having a yellow mark on the Shizuoka side.

The 485 series is a representative express train for AC/DC powered trains of the Japanese National Railways.

When the 485 series trains that ran on the Hitachi were assigned to the Katsuta Depot, they were collected from Aomori, Sendai, Mukomachi, Minami-Fukuoka, and Kagoshima, and many of the trains were early models except for the Saro 481, making them well-equipped trains that were reminiscent of the golden age of express trains.

The KuHa 481 series trains transferred from the Kyushu region continued to run for a while, with their distinctive red skirts with a cream stripe at the base, which indicates that they were 60Hz AC trains, and the omission of the whiskers on the bonnet, even though the Joban Line north of Toride is a 50Hz AC section.

The H100 series is a new type of diesel electric car, with prototypes appearing in 2018 and mass production starting in 2020, aimed at replacing the remaining Kiha 40 series in various parts of Hokkaido.

Some of the additional cars in 2022 will be wrapped in designs that evoke the characteristics of each JR Hokkaido line.
