Hornby R60204 OO BR YMO Salmon Bogie Wagon Era 7
The 65 foot length of the wagon enabled them to easily carry standard 60 foot lengths of track and consists of up to ten of these wagons would be connected to enable the transportation of even longer lengths. Batches of these wagons, totalling 894 examples, would be constructed between 1949 and 1961 with a further batch built in 1983.
Almost all of these batches would see a rebuild at various points in time with items such as the bogies and bolster positions changing and the addition of rail cranes and end bolsters on some variants. Each different variant would receive a different TOPS code.
YMO Salmons were the first to be classified by BR. YMOs were unfitted as per the earlier LMS counterparts Many YMOs would see their bolsters removed entirely to enable the transportation of pre-built track panels.
The Hornby Salmon range is a new tooling for 2023 with almost all variants of the wagon catered for. Fitted with diecast chassis, these wagons have fantastic weight that rolls freely on metal wheels. Bolsters are included in the accessory bag can be fitted to represent the different ways these wagons would have appeared

A General Utility Van (GUV) is a type of rail vehicle built by British Rail primarily for transporting mail and parcels. They were used by both Rail Express Systems and Railtrack. Hornby R40051 OO LMS Stanier D1905 Coronation Scot 57ft BTK 5792
In response to the LNER's 'Coronation' sets the LMS Board announced the advent of a similar train, the 'Coronation Scot'. All of the 'Coronation Scot' Coaches were eventually scrapped, beginning from withdrawals in 1962, with the exception of two of the RK vehicles; 30088 and 30106. These two coaches were converted into Inspection Saloons and both survive to this day as preserved examples.

SDS Models PL010 HO VR BPL Coach VR 1BPL Smooth Side
The original Austrains PL series of carriages have been upgraded. The Austrains NEO series are based around the same 59'9" design as the original models.
We've retooled the sides to reflect another style of doorway synonymous to this type of carriage, the sliding door. At the same time we took the opportunity to remove the faux raised screw heads of the original model along the raised beading and letter board area of the car body.
We have also improved the dimensionally accuracy of the roof mounted torpedo ventilators, made some small changes to the appearance of the bogies and improved the interior seat representation.
Lastly, we have introduced an additional width underframe, with centered handbrake wheel position. This provides us with a opportunity to model specific car numbers that match the prototype and offer all new car numbers. Three distinct eras of operation are offered, all with specific annotations on the car sides.
The APL and BCPL cars use the original 8'0" wide style underframe and the BPL cars ride on a new 7'6" style of underframe with centered handbrake wheel.

Hornby TT4038 TT BR 57 Brake Third M5769M Era 4
At the start of the 1930s the LMS abandoned the ‘Small Engine Policy that it had inherited from one of its largest predecessors, the Midland Railway. The abandoning of this policy led to some of the most famous Stanier and LMS designs such as the Jubilee, Black 5 and Duchess classes. To accompany this shift in ethos, new coaches were constructed for the LMS, with the 57’ coaches being built between 1931 and 1932.
These new coaches were steel clad, the first such for the LMS and had seating for 56, 300 such examples were built. In LMS service these coaches were painted in their striking maroon livery with LMS insignia adorning the side. The coaches, being relatively new at the time of nationalisation lasted well into the swansong days of BR, appearing in both its carmine and cream livery and later BR Maroon when BR decided to shift aesthetics back to regional recognition.

Hornby R40269 OO LNER Mk3 Open First Disabled TFD 41100
In-order to allow running at 125 mph on Britain's railways, new rolling stock was needed by British Railways. Significant improvements over the Mk2 included new secondary air suspension between the bogies and the coach body as well as aerodynamic skirting on the underframe. Mk3 coaches are 75ft (23m) long enabling far greater capacity than older coaches. Mk3 coaches also incorporate disk brakes and wheel slip protection enabling faster deceleration.
The first Mk3 coaches to be delivered were used as part of the HST prototype along with the two Class 41 diesel power cars in 1972. Mk3 coaches entered service in 1975 along with the Class 43 forming the iconic InterCity 125 trainset.
Following a period of privatised operations carried out by Virgin Trains East Coast, the InterCity East Coast franchise was re-nationalised. The new operator, named LNER in reference to operator of train services in the area between 1923 and 1948, is owned by the Department for Transport and currently awarded the franchise until at least 2025. LNER inherited a large fleet of IC 125 and IC 225 sets, but quickly began replacing the ageing stock with more modern Hitachi built high-speed multiple units. The last IC 125 train operated by LNER ran as part of a farewell tour at the end of 2019. Our 41099 model is a representation of a typical LNER Open First Coach.

Hornby R40017 OO Avanti West Coast Pendolino Motor First
During the 1970s, British Railways had pursued the concept of tilting train technology for the West Coast Main Line through the Class 370 Advanced Passenger Train concept, allowing for higher speeds to be taken through curves. By minimizing lateral forces on the passengers, the tendency to slide sideways was reduced, which in turn allowed passenger comfort levels to be maintained at higher speeds.
Even with the cancellation of the APT project, the idea of train tilt was still being considered in the 1980s for the InterCity 225 project, and again during the 1990s for the aborted InterCity 250 concept. In 1997, when Virgin Trains were awarded the franchise to operate the West Coast Main Line following the privatization of British Rail, it was on the proviso that new rolling stock was to be introduced, replacing the ageing Class 86/87/90 locomotives and Mark 2/3 coaches and so a £500 million order was placed with Alstom/Fiat Ferroviaria to construct fifty-four, eight-car tilting train sets, later increasing to nine, then eleven car sets.
The current Pendolino fleet of 52 sets comprises 31 eleven-car sets and 21 nine-car sets and all have been transferred to Avanti West Coast, the operating name for the new West Coast Partnership between FirstGroup plc and Trenitalia UK that took over the operation of the existing West Coast Main Line services on 8 December 2019, from Virgin Trains.
