Despite losing the crown of the largest of the 'Big Four' railway companies to its main rival the LMS, the LNER is notable for having some of the most iconic designs of locomotive and coaches ever devised. Often overlooked due to the prowess of their locomotives, the coaches of the LNER were some of the most resplendent coaches for their period, rivalled only by the privately owned Pullman Coaches.

With stylings rooted in the rolling stock of the large constituent GNR, many LNER coaches were made from panelled teak giving the coaches a unique appearance. Unlike other coach designs of the same era the LNER did not paint their coaches choosing instead to simply apply wax varnish to the exterior and interior wood resulting in the rich natural tones of the wood shining under any light.

Represented in 1:76 scale, these coaches feature fully detailed interiors, an accurate representation of the teak wood panelling and metal wheels on each bogie.

British Rail's Class 370 tilting trains, also referred to as APT-P (Advanced Passenger Train Prototype), were the pre-production Advanced Passenger Train units. The APT-P is the most powerful domestic train to have operated in Britain, setting the UK rail speed record of 162.2 miles per hour in 1979, a record that stood for 23 years. This 2-car TS Coach Pack features the Trailer Second, as part of Sets 370001 and 370002.

This four wheeled coach is a representation of the many which served on the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Four wheeled coaches proved especially good at branch line work where their small size enabled the traversing of tight radius curves, whilst lower passenger numbers meant their small size was more acceptable and enabled trains to be hauled by smaller engines.

This GNR coach is modelled as having step boards to enable access at stations with low platforms and gas lighting.

This model also features our new Maglight system which allows coach lights to be turned on and off using a magnetic wand, removing the need for track pick-ups which would increase rolling resistance.
